This beautiful antique and symbolic bangle was made during the mid 19th century in memory of a lost loved one. Crafted from 12 karat rose gold, the wide, hinged bangle features a black enameled background with hand-etched floral and zig-zag designs. The front of the piece features an engraving of a Lily of the Valley set with tiny seed pearls. The Lily of the Valley was a popular motif in Victorian mourning jewelry as it symbolized a “return to happines”, as well as the tears of the Virgin Mary.
The bracelet measures 6″ long and .5″ wide. It is unmarked but has been carefully x-ray tested to ensure its 12k gold content. The box clasp is in perfect working condition, and there are two loops for the addition of a safety chain. Condition is great for its age with some scratches to the enamel which is not obtrusive, and one missing seed pearl. Please see photos for details.
